Lakemba

El Jannah Lakemba

Lakemba locals already know what makes El Jannah iconic – our legendary Lebanese charcoal chicken, crispy fried chicken, and that famous garlic sauce people would quite literally fight for. Whether you’re here for a relaxed dine-in, takeaway, or delivery to your doorstep, we’re ready to serve up the meals you love.

El Jannah Lakemba Opening Day

Lakemba showed up in a big way on opening day and we’ve felt the love ever since. From the first trays off the grill to the last scoop of garlic sauce, the energy was unreal. Locals packed the store, mates rolled in hungry, and the charcoal grills didn’t get a second to cool down. If you were there, you already know. And if you weren’t? The flavour that kicked it all off is still waiting for you.

The Best Charcoal Chicken in Lakemba

At El Jannah Lakemba, charcoal chicken is treated with the respect it deserves. We take our time, slow-cooking each bird over real charcoal so the flavour runs deep, the skin crisps just right, and the meat stays juicy from the first bite to the last. It’s that balance of smokiness, texture, and seasoning that keeps people coming back. This isn’t just another chicken shop in Lakemba… it’s a taste that’s been refined over decades and proudly served right here in the heart of the suburb.

What Makes our Fried Chicken in Lakemba So Crispy

Fried chicken in Lakemba needs to deliver on one thing: crunch. And at El Jannah Lakemba, we take that seriously. No shortcuts, no rushed batches, and definitely no soggy disappointments.

Every piece is seasoned with our signature spice blend, hand-crumbed, and fried at the right pace to get that golden, shatter-crisp coating while keeping the inside juicy and tender. The result? Fried chicken that hits every time… fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavour.

Once you’ve had it this way, there’s no going back.

I came in late night at nearly closing time and was served by Maya & Ava. These 2 girls were so lovely and didn't have the attitude you'd expect from alot of the young ones if you were coming in at nearly closing. They were super cheerful and went above and beyond. I really hope the owners know they have little gems! Thank you ladies x

I visited today around 4pm and went through the drive through, and I feel compelled to leave a review because of what I witnessed. The car in front of me caused a very serious scene. The driver was yelling loudly, so loud I could clearly hear her from my car swearing directly at who I believe was the supervisor. At one point, she made an incredibly rude and inappropriate comment about the female worker who took her order, saying she must be on her monthly, and did so in a very disrespectful tone. It was shocking. She held up the drive through for what felt like over 30 minutes. The situation got so bad that staff had to start coming out to other cars to take payments because everything had come to a standstill. During this time, I also heard racial remarks directed at the workers, which was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable. Despite all of this, the team handled the situation with remarkable professionalism. They stayed calm, spoke respectfully, and did not retaliate, even while being recorded on the customer’s phone. I believe that this customer even had her two boys filming the workers as she screamed at the supervisor “MY BOYS ARE NOT RECORDING YOU!” which added to the discomfort of the situation. When one of the workers addressed it, she dismissed it and acted as if nothing was wrong with it. Before leaving, she swore repeatedly at the staff while they continued to remain composed and focused on doing their jobs. As a parent, this really affected me. I have children of my own, including a daughter who works in fast food industry and is a woman of colour. Hearing those kinds of comments directed at workers genuinely broke my heart, knowing that people like my daughter may face similar treatment. After all of that, as she attempted to leave, her car broke down. What surprised me most was that after everything she had just done, she turned and asked me for help. While I strongly disagreed with her behaviour, I still chose to help because it was the right thing to do. I want to make it very clear, the staff deserve recognition for how they handled an extremely difficult and disrespectful situation. Their patience, professionalism, and composure were outstanding. I hope upper management sees this and acknowledges the team for their efforts and also takes seriously the issue of customers behaving in a racist and abusive manner. No one deserves to be treated that way at work.
