The Best Charcoal Chicken in Gungahlin

At El Jannah Gungahlin, we don’t just toss chicken on a grill. Every piece is slow-cooked to lock in smoky, charred flavours while staying juicy inside. With decades of experience perfecting our recipes, every bite is a true flavour explosion. When it comes to charcoal chicken in Gungahlin and the surrounding Canberra suburbs, El Jannah leads the pack.

What Makes our Fried Chicken in Gungahlin So Crispy

What makes our fried chicken so irresistible? The secret is simple – we actually cook it properly. Unlike other spots that rush the frying process, leaving you with greasy, limp tenders, we hand-bread each piece with our signature spice mix and fry it to golden, crunchy perfection.

At El Jannah Gungahlin, every tender is crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside – exactly what you want when you crave proper fried chicken. Soggy tenders? Not here. We guarantee it.

Visited El Jannah with my wife and daughter and had an excellent experience.
The lady at the front counter (we believe her name is Eliza) took our order.
She was very kind, professional, and welcoming to our family.
Even if we didn’t spell her name correctly, she truly stood out as the best person there.
Amazing service and a wonderful experience thanks to her. I rate food 3 star as the food is not as good as it is before. But 5 stars for Eliza

I had a great experience at El Jannah thanks to Eliza at the front counter. She is extremely humble, professional, and very polite. Her customer service really stood out and made a big difference. The other staff members were also very nice and were doing their jobs properly.

Previously, I had a bad experience here as some staff were quite rude and lazy, especially Emanuel, but this visit was completely different. Huge credit to Eliza for her positive attitude and excellent service. Not sure if i get her name properly, She is working afternoon shift on Monday 12 Jan 26. She is truly a top person and an asset to the team. Highly recommended!

The chicken is so good, it's way too addicting. I would recommend the half chicken meal if you are going solo, or the whole chicken family feed if you have some friends or family coming with you.

Can't go wrong with El Jannah. The chicken and chips are just to die for. It's no coincidence that you never see it empty. Service is good and they have a good app as well for ordering ahead.

The charcoal chicken thighs with fattoush is a nice paleo/keto option.

Edit: So I recently paid them another visit, and the quality and flavour was improved by miles from my previous visit. The chicken was too good we left the wrap and dug into 2 whole chickens, the fries were another highlight, had the wrap next day all cold and it just melted with a fusion of flavors, can only imagine how good it's be fresh. Perhaps it was the overload of the opening day on my visit, complete 180 degree from the last visit. Can't even take a star down for not having a toilet.
The first star is deducted for not having a toilet, any restaurant with a dine in setup, without a toilet is a big disappointment, didn't even see a wash basin. The seating was quite compact too.
The food wasn't worth the hype, the fried chicken was on par with Kfc or kingsley (bland), the charcoal chicken was ok but not very flavorsome, the burger was tasty but could use some extra salad, the roll felt forgetful and the fries missed the mark. The best was the coleslaw and the gravy.
Certainly not trying to discredit them, the food was good but if u have been around, it's not going to interest you much. Given the hype and the long cue.

Great food. Great service. Food was delivered in 4 minutes!! Slight mix up with order, but it was remedied very quickly and apologetically. Will definitely be back!!

The food was delicious. Top* marks for the grilled chicken and burger. The restaurant was clean and well stocked, too. The let down was discovering an absence of hand washing stations and toilets in the restaurant. So, perhaps, consider bringing along a wet wipe or two.

I’m one happy customer. I made a complaint about the portion sizes reducing and I’m happy to report that it was addressed. Thank you for listening to your customers.
