El Jannah (Gungahlin) Chicken Shop

The best fried and roasted chicken in town. Highly recommended. Their chicken is a real comfort food.

Extremely fast service and has one of the best chickens/ chips + legendary garlic sauce. El Jannah should definitely spread across Canberra as every Canberran should try the great stuff.

This chicken totally slaps. I've been here twice (eat in and take away) and if I lived in Gungahlin I'd probably come here all the time. I like getting the mixed chicken meal; the fried chicken is on point, moist inside, not too salty and not oily at all, with a lovely crunchy outside, way better than Kingsley's and KFC. The charcoal chicken is tender, moist and chock full of delicious charcoal flavour. The gravy is the best chicken shop gravy I've ever had. I love the garlic sauce, super fluffy and and full of garlicky flavour. The pickles and tabouli are fantastic, the meal didn't come with them so I added them, definitely worth it. The coleslaw is good if you like creamy coleslaw. The chips aren't bad but not the best, could be crispier and could go easier on the chicken salt. The bread is good for turning leftovers into wraps the next day. Dining in I found the tables were not very clean. Be aware there are no toilets, you'll have to use the ones in the shopping centre. Also, order directly from the store, do not use Uber Eats if you can help it. Even for pick up the mark up is ridiculous on top of prices already more on the premium side.

Food: when I first came here, food was amazing. Every time your ordered, you could tell everything was freshly made but recently it seems like food it cooked and kept in the heater for a long time and seems stale. I thought it was just me till my friends and workmate mentioned that maybe the ownership changed which is why the food quality has gone down.Service: This doesn’t go out to all staff, but there is a few who have the attitude that they just don’t care and don’t want to be there. I feel like proper training for new, and even old staff, could help things go in the right direction.Overall: Things have changed significantly (not in a good manner) since I first visited El Jannah but it hasn’t reached the point of no return. Little tweaks here and there should help things get better. I’d still recommend people El Jannah for its charcoal chicken.

The charcoal chicken thigh is juicy, aromatic, and delicious. Fried chicken wings are ok. Garlic sauce and chilli sauce are really good and spicy. Fries are thick with the right balance of crunch.My order had a missing chip when it was delivered to my table. Only realised they left out from my original order after eating halfway. Informed the staff and they immediately gave another box of chip after checking the original order with no fuss and was polite. Good service.Overall, really good food for the price. Best place for halal meals.
