At El Jannah, we’re all about bringing you 100% Halal-certified authentic Lebanese food that hits the spot. Got questions about our Halal certification and practices? Don’t stress – we’ve got the answers right here.

Halal means “permissible” in Arabic. At El Jannah, this means our meat is hand-slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines, with a blessing (tasmiya) performed during the process.

You better believe it! El Jannah is 100% Halal certified. All our chicken and meat are prepared according to Islamic dietary laws, and we stick to strict Halal practices across every one of our restaurants in VIC, NSW, and the ACT.

Yes, all ingredients used at El Jannah, including our famous garlic sauce, marinades, and seasonings, are Halal certified. We carefully source all our ingredients to ensure they meet Halal requirements.

Our Halal certification is in all our restaurants. You can also request to see our current certification at any location.

To check if a product is halal in Australia, look for certification labels from trusted halal authorities, such as Halal Australia. You can also review the ingredient list to ensure it doesn’t contain non-halal items like alcohol or pork-derived products. When in doubt, contact the manufacturer or consult an official halal certification body for confirmation, consult the halal food directory.

While both Halal and Kosher are religious dietary guidelines, they have distinct requirements. Halal follows Islamic law while Kosher follows Jewish law. While there are some similarities, such as the prohibition of pork, there are important differences in the blessing practices and specific food regulations.

While plant-based foods are generally Halal, at El Jannah we certify all our ingredients – including our vegan and vegetarian options – to ensure they’re prepared without any non-Halal ingredients or cross-contamination. This includes checking that all additives and processing aids are Halal-compliant.

A Halal diet follows Islamic dietary laws and includes:

  • Properly slaughtered meat from permitted animals
  • No pork or pork products
  • No alcohol or intoxicants
  • Only Halal-certified ingredients At El Jannah, our entire menu is designed to meet these dietary requirements.

Halal food doesn’t need to be blessed by an Imam specifically. The blessing (tasmiya) must be performed by a practicing Muslim during slaughter. At El Jannah, our meat is slaughtered by certified Muslim professionals who perform the required blessing during the process.

Halal certification is an official recognition that a product or restaurant follows Islamic dietary laws. It’s awarded by authorised certification bodies who regularly audit our facilities, ingredients, and processes. El Jannah maintains current Halal certification across all our locations, ensuring every aspect of our food preparation meets Islamic requirements.

Yes, gluten is Halal as it’s a natural protein found in wheat and other grains. However, some gluten-containing products might contain non-Halal ingredients during processing. At El Jannah, all our products containing gluten are Halal certified, including our bread and other wheat-based items.

Yes, the chicken salt we use is specifically Halal certified. Unlike some commercial chicken salts that might contain non-Halal ingredients, we ensure our chicken salt meets all Halal requirements and is certified along with all our other seasonings and spices.
